Do you feel like a failure of a homemaker because you can’t keep your house perfect 24/7?
First of all, it’s important to reframe our expectations.
The moms you see on Instagram who seem to have perfectly curated homes at any moment are just showing you their highlight reel. I don’t know anyone whose home is actually spotless at every moment – especially if they have kids!
Remember – your family LIVES in your home. So much life is meant to happen between those walls – meals, learning, memories, and experiences. And sometimes these things create MESS!

PERFECT HOME → HAPPY HOME
So instead of striving for an always perfect home, strive for a happy home.
A home where love and memories can take place WHILE you can maintain your sanity.
A happy home is one that is neat and tidy, while giving your kids the space to be kids. It’s one that is organized and each item has a home, but you don’t stress when things are temporarily out of place.
Daily and weekly rhythms or routines allow us to maintain a happy home without it becoming a source of stress.

CLEANING RHYTHMS AND ROUTINES
I’ve always felt that the word “routine” is too stringent. When I’m not able to keep up with the tasks, I feel like a failure.
Instead I love to follow rhythms. These tend to be progress naturally and can fit anywhere in our day.
Having both a daily and weekly cleaning routine or rhythm (whichever term you prefer!) can help you stay on top of your home as a homemaker.

CUSTOMIZE YOUR CLEANING RHYTHMS
I’ve created these templated for you, but I hope that you’ll customize them and make them fit YOUR needs!
Every family and every home are different, so your cleaning routines should also be different!
Maybe it’s not important to you to fully clean your bathroom every week. OR maybe this is something you want to do a few times a week.
Maybe you prefer to do several loads of laundry on one day of the week instead of splitting it up throughout the week.
Decide what is necessarily, practical and important to your family and commit to that!
However, don’t be afraid to make changes to this if you can’t keep up or want to add more tasks to a specific day. The whole point is that it should work for you!
