If you’re pursuing a mindful and intentional lifestyle, there’s a good chance you love reading books that challenge your mindset and encourage you to grow as a parent.

Here’s a collection of my favourite books that have helped shape my parenting philosophies over the years. These books are a collection of respectful parenting, parenting techniques and research based parenting books.
I prefer listening to books on Audible – especially as a mom! It’s so easy to throw an audiobook on while I’m in the kitchen doing dishes or making dinner.
THERE’S NO SUCH THING AS BAD WEATHER – If you find yourself thinking “if only I lived somewhere else I would get outside every day” – this book is for you! This Scandinavian mom talks about her philosophy on how getting outside – no matter the weather – helps raise confident, healthy and happy kids!
BRINGING UP BEBE – I love reading about the contrast in parenting in other countries! This mama discusses how French parents raise flexible and polite children. It’s a fun, light-hearted read!
THE LIFEGIVING TABLE – Not your typical parenting book, but encouragement on how to implement traditions and a strong family culture through little daily habits in your home.
RAISING GOOD HUMANS – Isn’t that every mom’s goal?! This book gives practical strategies to break free from “Reactive parenting” and how to be more intentional with your children.
THE AWAKENED FAMILY – How to break free from modern misconceptions on parenting to raise children who are confident, resilient, and emotionally connected. This book will help you become the parent you’ve always wanted to be.
HOW TO RAISE A WILD CHILD – This book discusses how kids the hours and hours of screen-time that today’s kids consume daily is related to stress, depression and attention disorders. He shares how time in nature can help to combat these things and practical ways to encourage your child to love the outdoors!
CALL OF THE WILD + FREE – Technically a book on homeschooling, but relevant for anyone wanting to be an intentional parent. Learn the different models of schooling which can be applied whether or not you’re homeschooling full-time, and how you can raise children who love to learn.
BALANCED AND BAREFOOT – This book shares the importance of outdoor and unstructured play in a child’s physical and cognitive development. She shares practical ways to encourage free-play outside.
LAST CHILD IN THE WOODS – This book talks also speaks on the importance of children playing outside – not only for their health and wellbeing but for the future of our planet!
I’m a believer that we don’t need to agree with everything an author talks about to find value in a parenting book! We can glean wisdom here and there and put together our own, unique parenting philosophy.
It’s healthy to read about things you disagree with and have your own worldview challenged! Especially if your goal is to raise little humans who do the same.
